South Caucasus - A Part of Europe

"South Caucasus - A Part of Europe" was a project implemented by IZ together with the Association for Youth Non-formal Education in Lithuania (AYNEL) and with Eurasia Partnership Foundation as local cooperation partner in the South Caucasus. The project started in April 2007 and last till March 2010. It was financed by EuropeAid and cofunded by the Austrian Development Cooperation.

EKOsovo - Development through Biodiversity (2010-2012)

In 2010, the International Year of Biodiversity, Interkulturelles Zentrum together with its partner Environmentally Responsible Action (ERA) group (Peja, Kosovo) launched a project aiming at environmental education and supporting the civil society in Kosovo. The initiative is financed by the European Commission Liaison Office to Kosovo and the Austrian Development Agency.

Common Kids - Communal Action for Inclusion

In July 2011, together with the NGOs "Bridge of Hope" from Yerevan, Armenia, und "Union Beryllus" from Tbilisi, Georgia, Interkulturelles Zentrum started the project "Common Kids - Communal Action for Inclusion", which would be implemented for the next two years. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness in the society and among policy makers about the situation of vulnerable children and youth. At the same time the children and their families will be accompanied in their integration into communal life and supported in their development.


In cooperation with partner organizations from Armenia, Georgia, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic Interkulturelles Zentrum organized the cultural festival "Transkaukazja 2011”. The project was supported by the EU programme "Culture”.

Education Cooperation across the Caucasus

In cooperation with Interkulturelles Zentrum and supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture the Open Society Institute (OSI) has launched the OSI initiative "Education Cooperation across the Caucasus” was coordinated by Interkulturelles Zentrum and supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture. Through the Education Cooperation twelve education projects in the region were supported.

Caucasus Cultural Initiative Network (2012-2014)

CAUCULT was an international, intercultural project promoting local culture-related initiatives to support ethnic, religious and cultural diversity across the South Caucasus. The initiative was financed by the Eastern Partnership Culture Programm of the European Union and supported by the Austrian Development Cooperation as well as the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (FMEIA).
